The Fluffernutter by Duchess and Hare
/I always enjoy sewing up a Duchess and Hare pattern because they are so creative and different! When Fluffernutter came up to review, I knew I needed to try it. My daughter has lots of dresses, but she needs more tops and shorts for playing outside this summer. Fluffernutter fit the bill perfectly.
This top came together beautifully with an enclosed seam between the yoke and skirt. The arm holes are finished with bias and there is a placket in the back for easy dressing. I love the girly ruffle! The construction is a bit different than other patterns I usually sew, so be sure to read the instructions fully or you may skip a step and end up using your seam ripper more than you like. If you follow the tutorial it is a fairly simple sew. The shorts are a very fast sew. They took me 10 minutes! I love a good pair of knit shorties that can be paired with a variety of tops.
The fit was great. My daughter is the exact measurements for a size 1, so that’s what I made. She will be able to wear this outfit all summer long. As you can see from the pictures, she was really enjoying playing in it! I will be sewing more of these, especially the shorts. They will be a staple in her wardrobe for years to come!
Today we are featuring the Cat’s Meow and Double Dutch from Duchess and Hare. These patterns are so cute and combined with the optional cat shaped pockets, it really is the cats meow!
