Rhapsody Blouse sewn by Jackie:
Hey y’all, I’m back! Fall just officially started, and the weather here in Virginia is starting to change a little. But let’s be honest, it’s still the Southeast so it’s going to be a couple more months before the leaves fall and the air turns crisp. But I still reach for my jeans rather than my shorts and for a more fall-like top to pair with it. I have been eyeing the Rhapsody Blouse from Love Notions since it’s release because it’s everything I love in a blouse. It comes in sizes XS to XXXL, and has eight, (you heard me, 8!!) sleeve styles to choose from. Another fantastic feature is that there are pattern pieces drafted for small to average busted ladies, and pieces drafted for fuller busted ladies.
I chose the standard bust front and, my favorite part of this shirt, the ¾ length flounced sleeve. It makes my heart happy. I want to swish my arms around like I’m conducting a symphony. Instead, I artfully place my hands on my hips so y’all can admire the drape of my sleeves. I also really like the way the top just skims down my torso, making me look more trim than I really am. I picked up this beautiful floral voile at Hobby Lobby a while back and knew it would be perfect or this top. It really compliments the pattern, but I’ll admit that it’s flimsy nature made it a beast to sew. But it was all worthwhile because I love my new top! The voile keeps me from overheating in fall in the South, but the colors make me yearn for pumpkin spice something. Mmmmm, now I’m hungry. Until next time, Jackie
Eeny Meeny Miny Moe and Junior Joggers sewn by Rebekah:
Hey Everyone! It’s time for some Fall sewing and I’m very excited about it. I don’t know about you but in my neck of the woods Fall means sweaters, sweatshirts and just all around comfy clothes. This is exactly what I wanted to make for the baby especially since she is on the move now!
In order for my vision to come true, I needed two comfy patterns. What could be more comfy than some sweatshirts and joggers. Peek-A-Boo Patterns delivered these with perfection! For the sweatshirt I used the Eeny Meeny Miny Moe bodysuit which comes in Preemie-4T. This is a newer pattern in her baby collection and might just be my favorite. It seriously has soooooo many options. You can make a shirt, dress, sweatshirt, long sleeve shirt, and a onesie! My favorite part though is that it incorporates a onesie. One of my biggest pet peeves is shirts rising up on babies and exposing their bellies, especially when it’s cold out. This was the perfect solution. The onesie is built right in and makes it perfect for the colder weather. Not only that, but if you have a baby on the move it helps keep the dress from rising up and showing off her diaper. After all I’m trying to raise a lady! Lol It is a an easy sew too. As long as you can sew binding you can sew this pattern, which is a plus for beginners.
Now on to the Junior Joggers. This is such an easy sew as well and a pretty fast one too! These are all around built for comfort. Make them with a yoga or standard waistband, some front pockets, and leg bindings and you are good to go! Seriously these are perfect for babies too as the leg cuff keeps them from getting in the way of those little exploring feet. These are part of the general patterns and come in size NB-6.
Now I loved both these patterns so much that I made a bunch! I used Space fabric from Sweet n’ Charmed fabric (oh so soft DBP) and stripes from Purple Seamstress Fabric for the perfect comfy sweatshirt and joggers. I also had to try the dress because seriously, what is cuter? Let me tell you how cute this is especially with the What If I Fall Print from Vintage Lace. Both of these are made in size 9mo except the joggers (there is no 9mo size) which are 6mo size and fit great! The EMMM was a little hard to put on due to all the layers, of course it didn’t help that my baby is at that super squirmy stage too! Even diaper changes are like wrestling a greased pig! Because I loved these so much I had to make one more outfit in the 12mo size for her to use in a couple months! This one was made with Seahorses also from Sweet n’ Charmed. I just love all these sets! This is certainly going to be my go to baby shower gift now!
Sewing for Fall is just so much fun. The options are endless especially with these two patterns! You really can’t go wrong in the comfort and ease department!
Today Jackie is creating a Tin (Wo)man using patterns from Love Notions and Jacole. Keep checking in to see the rest of the amazing costumes we are featuring this week.
