Ladies Magnolia sewn by Ellen:
I LOVE FALL and am so excited to share my fall sewing pick with you! I chose to sew MYSELF (yes, finally something for me!!!) a Magnolia top from Little Lizard King and it did not disappoint. I am very familiar with Little Lizard King since I am a pattern tester for them and I really love their patterns. I tested the girl’s Magnolia pattern and it has become my daughter’s very favorite shirt to wear (especially since it’s super soft and comfy). The ladies version is just as amazing with lots of options too. I think now I will have to make a matching set…..
I chose to make a top so I can wear it to work. I teach art for elementary school and am always needing cute and comfortable shirts to wear. I wear jeans often so this top is going to be perfect for a long, fun day teaching. I used some knit from Jo Ann’s that was in my stash and I couldn’t be happier. I chose the curved front bodice (straight is the other option) and I’m so happy with it. I’m almost 5’9” and was going to add some length to it but didn’t and I think it turned out perfect. The pattern also includes a tunic, dress and maxi along with short, elbow and long sleeves. I see all of these in my future and maybe each style for every season! The pattern is an easy sew with great directions and clear photographs. The bodice is lined which is so nice too. I love that the pattern features photos of every different option on lots of body types so it is easy to see which will fit your body! This fall sewing project has really excited me and inspired me to sew for myself more. Hope you can find some time to make yourself something special too! Till next time. Ellen
Dublin Dolman sewn by Shae:
And, just like that, it’s fall!! Time for pumpkin spice everything and a fresh pair of fall boots. Along with the change in season comes a need for something new to wear. I decided to try out a new designer for me this time around. I went with the Dublin Dolman from New Horizons Designs for my daughter because it is an easy piece that she can wear all season long. Pair it with leggings or jeans, top it with a cardigan or a scarf. The possibilities are endless!
The pattern itself has both short and long sleeve options as well as many options for the bodice. I went with the gathered skirt version and added some lace to hem to fancy it up for her. I wanted a fabric that had that pumpkin spice feel to it, but that wasn't necessarily exclusive to fall so she can wear it into the winter months too. This beautiful Maureen Cracknell print from Art Gallery Fabric was just what I was looking for! Happy fall sewing everyone!!
Today Katherine is sewing up the teepee style tents by Little Lizard King. These tents are perfect for cozy reading time and have a matching dolly option too.
