The Vivienne Dress by Made for Mermaids featuring Girl Charlee's Vertical Floral Stripe fabric sewn by Jessica:
Hey, everyone! Today I’m here to celebrate Summer with some self-care sewing- or rather Summer Selfie Sewing! If you’ve been around Pattern Revolution a while, you know that there’s nothing selfish about sewing pretty things for ourselves once in a while. I’ve challenged myself to sew something fabulous for ME every month, so I was excited to come on board and sew with Girl Charlee Fabrics, Made for Mermaids patterns, and some of the other amazing ladies here at PR.
I browsed through all of the gorgeous knits that GC had to offer, and I was immediately in love with this vertical floral stripe in teal and magenta. This color combination is definitely in my wheelhouse, but if you don’t care for a cooler color palette, there is one in cornflower and caramel. Hello, Fall! The blend is a 95/5 cotton spandex, and it’s a medium weight knit (9oz), but has a great drape for dresses without being too thin.
I knew that I wanted to sew a Mama Vivienne Dress by Made for Mermaids, and I thought it would be fun to turn the stripes horizontal for the side panels. My idea came to life pretty much as I had imagined it would and I couldn’t be happier with the results! It’s pretty subtle, but it shows off the detail of the pattern really well. I’m looking to add this to my wardrobe and add a cardigan or jacket to it when the weather gets a little cooler. It’s flirty and fun, and just the boost that this mama needed to continue on her quest for self-care.
The Green Tee and Amy Skirt featuring Girl Charlee's Red Rose Lattice and Drawn Ethnic Elephants fabric sewn by Laura:
I was so excited when I heard about the “Summer Selfie” tour featuring Girl Charlee fabrics! I knew right away that I wanted to make the Amy Skirt and Green Tee by Greenstyle Creations. Choosing the fabric was a little bit harder, but I finally decided on these two prints
Red Rose Lattice Cotton Jersey Blend Knit Fabric and Taupe Drawn Ethnic Elephants on White Cotton Jersey Blend Knit Fabric and I couldn’t be happier! This outfit is so comfy and perfect for a relaxing summer day. Aren’t the elephants cute? They also look great with jeans for a quick trip to the grocery store! ;)
Thank you, Girl Charlee for the great opportunity!
