#SYSL - Just Do It!
/This past month there have been amazing things shared on this blog all about sewing for women. From high fashion to daily wear, we hope you have been inspired to sew something for yourself!
Today is our very last day and Ellen and Nicole are here to close out the show. Scroll down to see their amazing creations and check out some of the highlights from the month:
--------------------
I don’t sew a lot for myself. Really I only do it when given an assignment and deadline for Pattern Revolution. I just don’t carve out the time to sew for myself ever. So I always love making something cute for ME!!!!
I picked the Out and About Dress by SEW Caroline as the dress for me. I thought it looked very stylish, comfy and cute. I was right!
I have my dream job of being an art teacher for K-5 at my kids’ school. This is my first year. Some days I can’t believe I get paid to be creative and help kids use their imagination!!!! I also get to pop in and have lunch with my two kids whenever I want. Plus the school is down the street. Can’t beat it.
My favorite outfit to wear to work is a soft comfy dress, leggings and ballet flats. Boots when it’s cold. I add some fun earrings, a long necklace, maybe a bracelet and I feel artsy and cute all day!
This dress is adorable. Pattern was spot on for sizing (Medium for my 5’9” frame) and I was shocked it was long enough in the skirt and also in the torso. Major bonus points since it’s a big problem to find well fitting dresses in this style. And POCKETS. I love pockets. Makes me feel like I’m in sweatpants and just comfortable.
I got this houndstooth fabric on clearance at Hobby Lobby for $5/yd. It’s a nice heavy knit and was great to sew with. I’m still using my regular machine and haven’t learned how to use my brand new serger I bought months ago…SCARED! So I used a stretch stitch everywhere and I think it turned out great. Quick sew even though I am a very slow sewer. Extremely easy to follow pattern.
I have very fun fabric to use next time for this pattern, but I wanted to make sure it would fit first. I have a feeling I’ll be making a ton of these dresses to wear year round. I feel that we, as women, really should take the time for ourselves. It seems like everyone else comes first and then of course there’s the laundry, cooking, cleaning, homework, stories, bedtime, work….it never ends. I’m making a promise to myself to make one thing a month this year just for ME. I have great patterns to choose from. It makes me happy. Sew Yourself Some Love. Until next time….Ellen

Speaking of comfy and artsy, these daily wear outfits from Nicole are something I'd love to have in my closet!
