Read MoreI always love having a basic tee pattern on hand to sew for my daughter, and tees with ruffles are good, too. Sometimes, though, you want a pattern that is a little more exciting than a plain tee and a little less girly than a ruffled tee. A tee that you can really showcase great knits or even a panel from a custom knit order. The Extraordinary Girl from FIlles a Maman really fits the bill for that pattern staple that is very versatile and stylish, yet simple enough to whip up in a pinch. Let's turn it over to Carrie and Gloria for their review!
Read MoreAfter making the girl's Andover Pullover (here), I could not help but make one for myself! I live in the world of cold, wet, and virtually sunless from October-April (and honestly I wouldn't want to live anywhere else). So, I am always looking for clothes that are comfy, warm, and still cute!
Read MoreThere's just something about playing dress up and changing clothes that can turn any girl into a little diva, if only for the afternoon. Dresses, shoes, and accessories, all perfectly matched (in their eyes, anyway!) to create an epic ensemble that would be the hit of any event. They see nothing wrong with capes and tiaras for running to Target or the post office. If you're like me, you pick which of those wardrobe battles to fight and just ignore the stares. After all, you're only young once, right?
Read MoreWe've talked before about my love of versatility - if I can't make a pattern in 20 gazillion different ways, I rarely buy it. But the E&M #17 dress fits my love of versatility in every way possible. This is a dress - an A-line dress, an A-line dress with long or 3/4 length sleeve - both with optional cuffs, an A-line Dress that can have a defined waist with shirring, elastic, or a belt and belt loops, an A-line dress with a normal hem, high low hem, or a shirt tail hem, an A-line dress with a cowl neck or banded neck, and last but not least - an A-line dress with POCKETS. Don't we all love pockets!!!! But seriously, that is a ton of options all in one pattern.

Read MoreOk, I will admit that until December I had only made one bag and a couple totes... I sew clothes, I love sewing clothes, I understand clothes and all the notions that you need to make them. I wouldn't say that I am 'scared' of bags and wallets; but I have certainly been put off by all the different interfacings, hardware, and of course the time consuming nature of many of them. But all of that has changed in the last month!!! With just the tiniest bit of education - particularly in how easy it is get hardware for each project - I have suddenly been on a bag making spree. And by 'spree', I mean 1 backpack, 1 wallet, and the Necessary Clutch Wallet...but hey, it is a start!
