Simple Life Pattern Company Taylor Shift Top and Dress and Tammy Tulip and Ruffle Shorts
/Hey everyone! It’s been awhile since you heard from me last as my motivation was at an all time low. It’s slowly starting to come back though and I have two wonderful items to show for it today. My little girl recently turned 3yrs old. Lucky for me though, she is a little shrimp weighing in at only 25lbs! Because of this I get to still sew up cute baby sized patterns for her. Today I am showing off the Simple Life Company’s baby patterns Taylor and Tammy.
With all the baby sized patterns at SLPco the size ranges from newborn to 18-24mo. The Taylor is a shift dress or top. It features an open back that ties closed so no buttons or snaps. You can add a fuller skirt as well for a little more poof. The options don’t end there though! You can add a band at the bottom for more flare. And one of the best features is that this is a pattern you can use all year long as there are long and short sleeve options.
The Tammy shorts are cute little tulip style shorts. They have two lengths for the inseam. These are flat front with an elastic back to fit over those poofy baby booties. Now you can make them plain tulip shorts or add a ruffle along those seams for a more girly look. I love clothes that can go that extra mile and these shorts can. If you sew up the plain version they can be totally reversible giving you two shorts in one!
These patterns are simple and quick! Each took about 1.5-2hrs each for the first time sewing. These both were easy to follow and would be suitable for a confident beginner or intermediate seamstress. For my girl I made her all size 18-24mo and the fit was as expected. I went with the simple versions of both and the outfit turned out really cute. The only issue I had, which was a really easy fix, was the waistband on the shorts was too big and I needed to cut it down. I am completely in love with this outfit though and so is my girl! She is even wearing it still as I write this review.
Overall these patterns are winners! They are both fun, easy, fast sews that bring out the girliness without making it over the top. I know I look forward to making a fall version of the Taylor possibly with some corduroy.
