Isla's Infinity Tunic and Dress by Simple Life Pattern Company
/Hi! it’s Merav from Baby Hobbes Design here to share the sweet new Isla’s Infinity Tunic & Dress Pattern from Simple Life Pattern Company. This pattern is loaded with knit bodice options from drop waist, straight and curved and finished with circle or gathered knit or woven skirt. Since I often like to add length to my daughter’s bodices (and then have to do the math for the skirt-so it doesn’t hang to long) I appreciated having the extra cutting lines and the measurements for the drop-waist version. Oh, and did I mention the optional (sweet) Heart cut-out in the back?
This was the first time I ever made a cut-out in a bodice--so I must be honest that for this “intermediate sewist” It took me a few good minutes to read through the instructions and understand the construction, but once it clicked it was a breeze. I chose to sew with a minimalist print from Art Gallery Fabrics Knits - their knits are super soft and perfect for a fitted top and to showcase my heart. I finished the dress with a woven fabric (also from AGF) to create the lightweight gathered skirt for an airy feel.
Isla Pattern ranges from size 2T-12, and it’s infinite skirt and bodice option also include flutter, circle and ruffles sleeves (varied sleeve lengths for year long wear) along with optional bodice ruffles, and POCKETS - so if your kid is like mine, make sure to check for treasures before washing. Working with both the size chart and the finished length (love when designers add finished lengths), I chose to make my daughter a size 4T waist and a 5T length since measures in between those two lengths and I rather a dress have some built in room to grow.
Till next time, Happy Sewing and many more!

Today Kari reviews Pearl's Zipper Dress and Top by Simple Life Pattern Company. This final product looks like it would be a difficult sew but Kari found the tutorial made it easier. Lots of attention to detail in this sassy dress.
