June Dress by Violette Field Threads

Hi there… I’m Kari from That's-Sew-Kari here to review the June Dress by Violette Field Threads.  The June is a sweet summer dress with an open back, full skirt, and extra-large pockets.  The size range is 2T - 10.  Because the front skirt is paneled, you can easily add in a coordinating print behind the pockets, or choose to keep the same fabric and let your pockets pop.  This dress is perfect for the hot summers here in North Carolina and around the world!

What I love about this pattern:  It’s quick and easy to sew.  You can choose to print the skirt pieces -OR- follow the measurement chart.  I printed all the pattern pieces and made my cutting super easy!  VFT has added a child’s measurements chart in addition to their finished measurements chart so it’s easier to pick the correct size.  My tiny 7 year old was nearly spot on for a solid 5.  I did tweak the back after trying the bodice on halfway through.  She has a narrow back so open-back dresses usually require a bit less width there so it is nice and fitted as the pattern is intended.

I came across the baseball fabric in the fat quarter section of Walmart’s fabric department.  I knew my baseball-loving girl would adore a dress out of it.  As I brainstormed, I decided to make the pockets into baseballs using white fabric and red ric rac.  My daughter LOVES it!   P.S.  I totally spared you from the million puns racing through my head for this review. HA!

I am already looking at my fabric stash and mentally planning my next one.  It is such a great pattern!  Fun, easy, and summery.  My only wish is that the pattern printed in layers.  I’ve been spoiled by other patterns - haha!  Of course, layers are not a must-have for me, but nice when it’s an option.    You will not regret adding this pattern to your collection!!
