One Thimble Issue 16-Preview and Blog Tour
/It is time for another release of the One Thimble and I cannot even tell you how excited about this one we are! Next to sewing, one of our very favorite things is MERMAIDS and this issue is just FULL of them. All of the clothing patterns have a distinct seaside feel and the accessory patterns are everything a mermaid lover could ask for. Plus, we are giving away a copy of the entire issue (scroll down to enter!) What more could you ask for? Well how about a week of blog tour posts to showcase all of this patterns? You got it!

Marnie's Review
Hi, It’s Marnie from Horris & Deedle and I’m excited to be kicking off the One Thimble Issue 16 Ezine!! For those of you who have no idea what I’m talking about - It’s time you crawled out from underneath the rock you are living under because this issue is a real little ripper (some Aussie slang for you right there - it means it is really awesome). I have been a fan of One Thimble ever since it launched, and this edition may be my favourite one yet!.
The pattern lineup for this issue is brilliant. I want to sew every single pattern! It covers a wide range of sewing interests too. There is a classically beautiful ladies dress from 1 Puddle Lane, some stylish yet practical pants for boys from Made By Jack’s Mum, a perfectly whimsical mermaid skirt that will be adored by any little girl wanting to be a mermaid from Tadah Patterns, a super cute Mermaid doll for those who enjoy sewing toys from Daisyeyes Handmade, 2 Free Motion Applique Patterns from Inkling Threads (formerly Ric Rac and Retro), a mermaid blanket from Molly and Mama (what a fabulous gift idea this one is), an amazing girls knit dress from Peach Patterns and finally Ainslee Fox lovers rejoice, because there is not one, not two, but three patterns from Ainslee Fox in this edition.
The first pattern I chose to make was the Pearlie Dress and Peplum top from Peach Patterns. I made the dress version and found the sizing to be very accurate, the sewing instructions and techniques great and easy to follow and I’m really happy with the end result. This is a dress that is a must have in a girls wardrobe - its comfortable, can be dressed up or down, would be perfect for school, has the most awesome on trend hemline, and can easily transition between seasons because its easy to layer, but still looks great when layered.
I also had to make the Anislee Fox Hally Casual Dress because it’s just adorable. I don’t sew lots of woven dresses for my daughter these days, so I let her loose in my fabric stash to choose a fabric and she chose a fabric that was actually originally gifted to me by Jen, the designer behind Ainslee Fox. I was stoked to be able to sew one of her patterns from it.
This is an adorable little dress and I love the way it turned out. I also added one of the FMA patterns to the front - the Meg is A Mermaid from Inkling Threads. I am not the most experienced or the best FMA sewer, and could use more practice. I think this is a technique worth perfecting for this pattern. I love Sarah’s FMA patterns and have been a fan of her work for a long time.
This edition is worth buying for the patterns alone, but it includes so much more than that. We’ve had an absolute shocker of a week or two here with the kids just taking it in turns of being sick. I am not a lover of Winter and to be honest I was already over it on June 1st. By August I am well and truly struggling, sick of the cold, sick of the viruses, sick of waking up to get kids off to school when its still dark outside and this little ezine was like a breath of fresh air and much needed therapy for me this week! The photography in it is even more amazing than normal (you nailed it Chrystal) and as I read and got to more and more articles, I found myself ticking boxes in my head of topics that I have been wanting to learn more information about but haven’t even begun researching. I particularly enjoyed the article on heat transfer vinyl and also the one on different tulle types. It’s also packed full of sewing tips and tricks and some very handy articles for business owners.
