Sew Breezy Top by Footloose and Fancy Free

Hello fellow readers, today we have the Sew Breezy Top by Footloose and Fancy Free to share with you.  This is a pillowcase style top that is perfect for the late heat of summer and can be dressed up or down depending on the fabrics and embellishments that you use.

  • *A note from the designer: To get a more fitted underarm area - push the gathers of the fabric closer together and tie the strap closer to your neck.  Because of the racer back, this top was designed to be worn with a strapless bra or coordinating cami.

The designer is also offering one of our readers the opportunity to win a 3 pack bundle of patterns from her shop!!!  There are so many cute things over there, so check them out!

Now take it away Crystal...

------------------------------------------------

Hi there! I am Crystal from Stitched by Crystal, I am mommy to a two year old boy and a one year old girl.  My mom taught me to sew when I was little and I have loved it ever since.  I enjoying sewing in what little free time I can find! I have been itching to sew something for myself and had some rayon fabric leftover from another project that I was wanting to make a shirt for myself with.  So when I got the opportunity to review the Sew Breezy Pillowcase top by Foot Loose and Fancy Free, I jumped at the chance. It was weird to be in front of the camera instead of behind it, so please excuse my awkward posing :)
This shirt is a really quick sew and is a great project for beginners.  The patterns includes instructions for french seams in the sides so there are no exposed seams and you won't need a serger.  The instructions are really clear and easy to follow and the pattern includes lots of photos.  From first cut to finished shirt it took me just under an hour.
The pattern is for size S-XL.  The pattern gives length measurements for the sizes but not measurements for the width.  I normally wear a S or M in store bought shirts and I made a small.  The fit is good and the shirt is pretty wide, my finished size small measures about 21" from armpit to armpit when laid flat.
I really like the racer back on the shirt and the high low hemline.  The shirt is both flattering and forgiving on my post baby belly :) My only complaint is that the arm holes are a bit low so it comes pretty close to showing my bra on the side.  If I make another, I will cut it a bit higher in the armpits.
The pattern has the shirt tie with a bow on the shoulder.  I have a one year old and knew that floppy bow wouldn't stand a chance around her so instead I sewed the shoulder strap together where the bow would go and slid the seam into the casing at the back.
Overall, this is a great pattern!  Quick and easy to sew, it is a great shirt for this last bit of summer!

How cute and easy to wear!  Here are some more images from our other reviewer Amber.  I just love the lace bow that she included.
