Aspiring Designers: Honeydew Kisses Patterns

Hi! My name is Talia and I am the designer at Honeydew Kisses Patterns. I am a homeschooling WAHM of three kids, ages 3, 5 and 6. I grew up watching my mom sew and I have always had a love for anything artsy. Once I started having children, I dusted off my mom's old Bernina Record and started sewing for them. That turned into making things for friends and family, then other people. For years, I made everything without a pattern, because it came natural for me to just think something up in my head, then start cutting away at fabric. I started using PDF patterns about two years ago, and always thought to myself "I should be doing this with MY patterns!" So, I recently decided to dig in and learn how to do it all the right way. I took a course to learn how to grade, digitize, and put together a pattern, and soon after, I released my first one. I am hooked, so get used to seeing me around!

I am excited to be able to release my second pattern as part of this designer challenge - such a wonderful opportunity! These little cuties are called the Fiona Suspender Shorts. The pattern goes from size 6-12 month to 9/10, and is great for confident beginners on up! As long as you can do the button holes, it is pretty smooth sailing otherwise. The tutorial includes lots of pictures for you visual learners, along with the detailed instructions.

They are fully adjustable and will grow with your child, as they have a flat front waistband and an elastic back waistband. The suspenders can be made with buttons on both ends, or with a bow on one of the ends (button on the other). If you choose to do the bow, it can be worn in the front or back!

If that is not enough, you also have the option to do plain suspender straps, or put an adorable flutter ruffle on them!

The shorts themselves are a great little bubble short with cuffs at the legs and functional pockets. The straps come off, so I have also included the option to add belt loops at the sides and a waist sash to cover up the button holes! For those who prefer not to have the pockets, I have given some quick tips on altering the pattern slightly in order to leave them off. This pattern is so versatile, everyone will be able to find a combination (or several!) that works for them.

To celebrate the release I will be doing 20% off through August 27th, no code necessary! Make sure to enter the giveaway here for a free copy... And, no worries, if you end up winning after purchasing a copy, I will refund your purchase :)

It was so nice to "meet" you, and I hope you enjoy my pattern!

Aspiring Designer: Azurerocket Design Studio

Hello! I am Kath and I run Azure Rocket Design Studio.

As the daughter of an artist and a scientist, I have never been able to favor one discipline. Currently all of my projects involve marrying my technical education with my love of creative design. I have always wanted to create patterns to allow me to share my ideas with others and am grateful for the Aspiring Designers Challenge for giving me the motivation to bring my dreams to fruition.

Today, I am honored to bring you my first sewing pattern, the Toadstool Tote. It is the first in a planned series of Woodland Satchels - bags and totes inspired by forest flora and fauna.

Toadstool Tote PDF Sewing Pattern

The pattern is an exploration of geometry in a delightful motif: the bright red toadstool that plays an ubiquitous role in forest folklore. Unique in both construction and appearance, it is appropriate for children and adults alike as whimsy need not have an age limit.

This soft tote is the perfect size to hide away a selection of toys, art supplies, or anything you fancy having along just in case of fun. Stiff interfacing and fusible fleece give the lined tote enough structure to retain its shape and give it strength, but as a soft, hollow structure, it both is lightweight for carrying and satisfyingly squishy.

The pattern comes complete with a photo-guided tutorial for completing the project and would be perfect for anyone from an advancing beginner to a more seasoned sewist.

As an introductory special, the Toadstool Tote PDF pattern, normally $4, will be available for $3 through Craftsy and Etsy for 48 hours after release. Should the winner happen to also have purchased the pattern, a refund will gladly be made.

Aspiring Designer- Golden Rippy

Hi, I'm Rachel the designer at Golden Rippy! I'm mom to 2 boys and 2 girls (the littlest one is 3 months old). They keep me on my toes and I keep them fed and clothed. We have a good arrangement. I love writing, gardening, cooking and dreaming up new patterns. Nice to meet you!

delilah3

The Delilah Top is the grown-up version of the Dahlia Top. It's a quick, easy sew and comes in sizes xxs to xl.

delilah4

The Delilah comes with two embellishment options. A big ol' bow on your shoulder, or some fun blossoms on your chest. We want to draw some attention. Wink wink. But I don't want my puppies to pop out of my neckline every time I have to bend over to wipe a nose, or pick up a toy that fell out of the stroller. Perfect for breastfeeding moms! It's nice and long and gives good coverage, especially when those puppies are obscenely big and don't fit into regular tops. You know what I'm talking about. Oh, and it's very forgiving with "the mommy tummy". I have a 3 month old baby and after 4 kids my abs have gone into hibernation. I don't need my tops to judge me. ;) It also has two sleeve options with a short sleeve or half sleeve. Perfect for the summer and transitional days. Designed like a dolman or kimono sleeve, you don't have to cut it out separately or set in the sleeves, it's already attached! The Delilah is your go-to top to lounge around in, do your Netflix binge watching, take a nap and then suddenly remember you still have to feed that family of yours. Look cute and pulled together, whether you feel like it or not. Who says fashion can't be comfy too? You can check out extra pictures and the blossom version on my blog. Can't wait?
