Aspiring Designers: Honeydew Kisses Patterns
/Hi! My name is Talia and I am the designer at Honeydew Kisses Patterns. I am a homeschooling WAHM of three kids, ages 3, 5 and 6. I grew up watching my mom sew and I have always had a love for anything artsy. Once I started having children, I dusted off my mom's old Bernina Record and started sewing for them. That turned into making things for friends and family, then other people. For years, I made everything without a pattern, because it came natural for me to just think something up in my head, then start cutting away at fabric. I started using PDF patterns about two years ago, and always thought to myself "I should be doing this with MY patterns!" So, I recently decided to dig in and learn how to do it all the right way. I took a course to learn how to grade, digitize, and put together a pattern, and soon after, I released my first one. I am hooked, so get used to seeing me around!
I am excited to be able to release my second pattern as part of this designer challenge - such a wonderful opportunity! These little cuties are called the Fiona Suspender Shorts. The pattern goes from size 6-12 month to 9/10, and is great for confident
beginners on up! As long as you can do the button holes, it is pretty smooth
sailing otherwise. The tutorial includes lots of pictures for you visual learners, along with the detailed instructions.
They are fully adjustable and will grow with your child, as they have a flat front waistband and an elastic back waistband. The suspenders can be made with buttons on both ends, or with a bow on one of the ends (button on the other). If you choose to do the bow, it can be worn in the front or back!
If that is not enough, you also have the option to do plain suspender straps, or put an adorable flutter ruffle on them!
The shorts themselves are a great little bubble short with cuffs at the legs and functional pockets. The straps come off, so I have also included the option to add belt loops at the sides and a waist sash to cover up the button holes! For those who prefer not to have the pockets, I have given some quick tips on altering the pattern slightly in order to leave them off. This pattern is so versatile, everyone will be able to find a combination (or several!) that works for them.
It was so nice to "meet" you, and I hope you enjoy my pattern!
