Read MoreHi! My name is Talia and I am the designer at Honeydew Kisses Patterns. I am a homeschooling WAHM of three kids, ages 3, 5 and 6. I grew up watching my mom sew and I have always had a love for anything artsy. Once I started having children, I dusted off my mom's old Bernina Record and started sewing for them. That turned into making things for friends and family, then other people. For years, I made everything without a pattern, because it came natural for me to just think something up in my head, then start cutting away at fabric. I started using PDF patterns about two years ago, and always thought to myself "I should be doing this with MY patterns!" So, I recently decided to dig in and learn how to do it all the right way. I took a course to learn how to grade, digitize, and put together a pattern, and soon after, I released my first one. I am hooked, so get used to seeing me around!
I am excited to be able to release my second pattern as part of this designer challenge - such a wonderful opportunity! These little cuties are called the Fiona Suspender Shorts. The pattern goes from size 6-12 month to 9/10, and is great for confident
beginners on up! As long as you can do the button holes, it is pretty smooth
sailing otherwise. The tutorial includes lots of pictures for you visual learners, along with the detailed instructions.

Read MoreHello! I am Kath and I run Azure Rocket Design Studio.
As the daughter of an artist and a scientist, I have never been able to favor one discipline. Currently all of my projects involve marrying my technical education with my love of creative design. I have always wanted to create patterns to allow me to share my ideas with others and am grateful for the Aspiring Designers Challenge for giving me the motivation to bring my dreams to fruition.
Today, I am honored to bring you my first sewing pattern, the Toadstool Tote. It is the first in a planned series of Woodland Satchels - bags and totes inspired by forest flora and fauna.
The pattern is an exploration of geometry in a delightful motif: the bright red toadstool that plays an ubiquitous role in forest folklore. Unique in both construction and appearance, it is appropriate for children and adults alike as whimsy need not have an age limit.
This soft tote is the perfect size to hide away a selection of toys, art supplies, or anything you fancy having along just in case of fun. Stiff interfacing and fusible fleece give the lined tote enough structure to retain its shape and give it strength, but as a soft, hollow structure, it both is lightweight for carrying and satisfyingly squishy.
The pattern comes complete with a photo-guided tutorial for completing the project and would be perfect for anyone from an advancing beginner to a more seasoned sewist.
As an introductory special, the Toadstool Tote PDF pattern, normally $4, will be available for $3 through Craftsy and Etsy for 48 hours after release. Should the winner happen to also have purchased the pattern, a refund will gladly be made.
