Weatherly sewed these amazing mama and me Molly dresses with fabric graciously supplied by Art Gallery Fabric. Here's what she had to say:
Weatherly's Mama and Baby Molly
Are you ready for Summer? Or, maybe just as important, is your wardrobe ready for Summer?!
Hey Everyone! It’s Weatherly from Love and Lilies Designs and boy, am I so ready for Summer, and, thanks to this dress, my wardrobe is one step closer to being ready for the season also! The Mama Molly is a fabulous woven dress pattern that includes sizes XSmall to XXLarge. This is a loose fitting bodice that features a scoop back and your options include: length (top, knee, or maxi), collar, and faux pintucks on the front bodice. For my version, I chose the maxi length with no collar or pintucks. I found that overall I really liked the fit of the Mama Molly, but, if you would like a little more flow to the skirt, add some width to the given measurements to make the skirt fuller. This Mama Molly perfectly mimics the previously released girl version making it a wonderful way to create a mother/daughter look, which, of course, I did!
So, on that note, let me tell you a little bit about the girl version! The girls Molly includes sizes 2T to 12 and has the same options as the Mama Molly. I created the maxi version with the collar for my daughter, and I am in love with the result! A little tip to use, especially with a maxi, is to save the hemming for last, so that you can try it on them and adjust the final hem as needed. Both versions have well written, easy to follow steps, with clear pictures to accompany the steps.
Finally, I want to tell you about the fabric!! As I said above, these are woven dress patterns, so, great fabrics to use would be light to medium weight wovens like cotton, chambray, rayon, or voile. I used Art Gallery Millefiori Ethereal Rayon, graciously provided by Art Gallery. This fabric was a dream to sew with! It is so lightweight and flowy and has a beautiful drape, which was perfect for my maxi dresses, and it wasn’t sheer at all!!
Speaking of ready for summer, Rebecca sewed these cute Tammy shorts that are perfect for summer. She also used fabric supplied by Art Gallery Fabrics and they cam out perfectly!
