Fashion Friday: Pattern Sew-perlatives

Welcome, welcome! This is the FOURTH and FINAL installment of Fashion Friday! I just love this Sew Yourself Some Love series, and I hope you've loved reading it.

Today we have pattern superlatives. I know, I know, I promised you all a "top-10-beginner-patterns-for-women"...but then I got to thinking about it, and that's just not going to work out. Because as unique individuals, no one set of 10 patterns could encompass all our unique wardrobe requirements. So I settled instead on a list of pattern "sewperlatives" (you know how I love a good pun!). Let's get to it, shall we?

Best Casual Sew

I have a serious love of skinny pants, so this category's winner was obvious to me. I LIVE in Jocole Skinny Pants. And if you hop down to the next category, you'll see a flat-front elastic-back version I'll be using for a tutorial over at the Jocole blog next week!

Honorable Mentions: Winter Wear Designs Aviator Pants, Files A Maman Extraordinary Girl

Best Professional Sew

Winter Wear Designs Champs Elysee Blazer in a Navy Bottomweight Britex Remant, Floral Thread Theory Camas Blouse, and Jocole Skinny Pants in Robert Kauffman Stretch Denim

Every professional wardrobe needs a blazer, right?? The Winter Wear Designs cross-back blazer has a professional polish, with a cross-back feature that lends a trendy vibe to any ensemble .

Honorable Mentions: Jocole Pencil Skirt, Thread Theory Camas Blouse

Best Date Night Sew

I've totally outted myself as a Jocole fangirl at this point, but seriously, the Jocole Pencil Dress (Peplum + Pencil Skirt) is my dress-up sew of choice.

Honorable Mentions: Greenstyle Laurel (I haven't seen a single version of this dress that wasn't totally flattering), Love Notions Willow Wrap DressSis Boom Carolina Mae

Best Layering Sew

This category goes to the Julia Cardigan! You saw my version of it last week, but may not have realized that it was an all-season wardrobe staple. I have made three myself, and they're in constant rotation year-round!

Honorable Mentions:  Peekaboo Santa Fe Tee, Swoon Scarf Neck Cardigan

Best Speedy Sew

I LOVE the Daytripper Top from Shwin Designs! I have made more of them than I can count *cough* especially when I'd rather sew for an hour instead of wash laundry *cough*. You can see my most recent blogged version here.

Honorable Mentions: Jocole Quick Dress, Jocole A-line Skirt

Best Scrappy Sew

Pattern for Pirates Raglan in Girl Charlee Buffalo Plaid and Jocole Pencil Mini

Pattern for Pirates Raglan in Girl Charlee Buffalo Plaid and Jocole Pencil Mini

This, hands down, goes to the Pattern for Pirates Raglan! With various sleeve lengths, and a design that can accommodate multiple fabric choices, this is one scrap-friendly sew. I even added some scrap lace along the front sleeve seam, even if it's kind of hard to see here.

Honorable Mentions: Sis Boom Tortola (have you SEEN this two-tone version?

There are more categories - Athletic Sews, Lounge wear, swimwear (but no way are you getting me to model those in this fresh layer of snow!). Shout out your favorite pattern superlatives in the comments!

As always, a special thank you to Girl Charlee for sponsoring my blog series! Thanks for trusting me with your beautiful fabrics, even when you (and I!) didn't quite know what I'd make with them yet ;)
