Sweetheart Sewing
/I'm BACCCKKK! With another great social sewing event, this time hosted by our sponsor, Girl Charlee. It's called the Sweetheart Sewing Contest, in celebration of Valentine's Day! (I know, I know, I'll get better about sharing these events with time to participate, I swear!)
Entries are due by Midnight on the 17th, so the weekend sewists among us still have time to put something together! Check out the rules and restrictions, and let your imaginations run wild!
Admittedly, this top is a year old. It's the Shwin Designs Day Tripper Top , my first sew from last year's Just Add Jeans Pattern Anthology women's pattern bundle. This top is impossibly fast, and my go-to sew when laundry is piling up (and closets looking bare!).
What's that dear? No, no, I would never admit to sewing instead of doing laundry. I mean, I would never sew instead of doing laundry.
The skirt is a simple elastic waistband gathered skirt. I cut two rectangles across the length of the selvage, one 2 inches shorter than the first, hemmed them both and added a two inch elastic casing at the top. What's fun about this skirt though is that it's made from peachskin! Peachskin is a light-medium weight cotton with GREAT drape. Mine is just plain white, but you can find it in all sorts of fun prints here!
Have you entered this contest already?? Show me what you made! I'm going to go stalk #girlcharlee and #gcsewandwin on instagram to see what everyone else has come up with :)
What other contests or sew alongs are you running now?? I don't yet have an entry lined up for next weeks post!
