The Clementine dress by FooFoo Threads

Hey all! Cassie here from Lily Shine Creates to review the adorable summer dress, Clementine, by Foo Foo Threads.

As soon as Memorial Day hits- it’s all summer sewing until Back to School season begins late July! If you’re looking for a fun and fresh style to sew for your little girl, the Clementine is a great choice! Foo Foo Threads typically features lots of ruffles and full skirts, but this style is more of a subtle silhouette with an optional flounced sleeve detail and either a gathered circle skirt or a standard gathered rectangle skirt. Clementine also has the option for a sweet and dainty front collar and a topstitched sash. The back is finished with a knot tie and a low elastic casing for easy on/off and room to grow.

I sewed up the Clementine with the collar and rectangle skirt option. For the sake of time, fabric and simplicity, I opted to leave off the ruffle sleeve and sash. I used some of my favorite prints from Maureen Cracknell's Garden Dreamer collection for Art Gallery Fabrics that I scored from the Sample Spree at Quilt Market!

The collar is so sweet- I just had to fussy cut some bumblebees to really show it off!

I love the back of the dress- perfect for summer! For the next one, I will shorten the elastic to bring the back even closer to the skin and keep the dress from gaping.

The Clementine Dress sewed up in a jiffy, especially quick since I left off some of the options. I found the directions to be extremely thorough. Every step from selecting size, cutting each pattern piece and fabric, sewing each option and tips along the way were all included in a nice, organized way. I often found myself jumping to the Table of Contents and back to the tutorial to skip between the parts I wanted to skip over. My daughter loves her new dress and I love a new great summer staple!

Happy Sewing!

XOXO, Cassie
