Wild and Free Lounge Pants by Coffee & Thread

Hey all!  Rebekah from Rebekah Sews!  Got another fun pattern to tell you about.  When do I not, right?  I know many of you just love sewing for your kiddos, myself included.  Often in the world of imagination that many of our kids reside in, they say that they want to be a cat or dog or some other animal.  Well this pattern can help them out a little in that respect so they can express their inner animal friend.

Coffee & Thread came out with a fun pattern called the Wild and Free Lounge Pants!  These fun pants fit like leggings and even have fun pockets.  Included in the pattern are applique templates for many animals to make some cute animal faces on the knees.  Not into animals?  Well shapes are also included.  Want a plain pair?  Well you can sew up an easy fast plain pair!  The possibilities are endless.  Maybe even think outside the box and create your own animal too!  These are a pretty fast sew for a plain pair and a little longer for an animal pair.  Now you can applique the faces or shapes on or if you have an embroidery machine, use that.  If you don’t want to do those though don’t worry, you can paint the faces on.  Yes, the tutorial includes detailed instructions for how to wax paper stencil the animal faces using paint.  It is nice and easy to follow and a fun project for an advanced beginner.

For my little girl I made a fun bunny pair.  Her measurements put her in a size 9-12mo which was quite surprising as she usually wears an 18-24mo in RTW.  However the fit was spot on and fit her perfectly.  So definitely follow the size chart even if the sizing seems different than RTW.  Now when I was ready to paint the bunny face I had my paint and well, that was it.  You would think I could find a paintbrush in my house full of kids crafts.  Alas, nope.  Couldn’t even find wax paper.  So improvisation was in order.  I painted with a pipe cleaner and just freehanded the face.  After I outlined in black sharpie.  It worked and I think it looks cute.  I also decided to have even more fun and added crazy ribbon hair to the bunny and a lace crown.  I just love them and so does little Miss!

This definitely is a fun pattern and goes beyond just a standard lounge/legging pattern.  I know i can’t wait to make her more pairs.  Think kitties are next!
