Alpine Shorts and Trousers from Terra's Treasures
/Hello, all! It's Jessica from Snickerdoodle Stew, and with my oldest turning eight this month, I really wanted to carve out some time to sew for him. His sister usually gets all of the sewing attention, so I wanted to make him an outfit and take some fun pics while he's at the age where he'll still let me! So, today I'm here to tell you all about the Alpine Shorts and Trousers from Terra's Treasures. If you've got a little man to sew for and you like what you see, you can get 30% off with code Pattern Revolution HERE. Expires 10/5
I'm a huge fan of Parson Gray fabric by Free Spirit and when I saw this pattern, I knew that making these shorts in Mr. Butler's Katagami would be perfect. I let my son pick two prints and he chose Field Stripe in Soldier Blue for the main fabric and Star Crossed in Steel for the accents. I also used a bit of off white piping and I love how polished it looks! I paired them with another pattern from Terra, which is really my go-to raglan, the Streamline Tee. (See more style and fall layering tips featuring the Streamline HERE) My solid knits are from The Purple Seamstress.
I love that these shorts/trousers range a HUGE size span. 0-3M to size 16! The way that these are set up, you can actually just make them solid, which I'm looking forward to trying. There are side pockets and back pockets, and an option for a faux fly, too. I'm not going to fib...getting those accent pieces to line up was a challenge, so make sure that you have plenty of time to dedicate to it. The end result is really handsome and well worth the effort.
I really hope that my son continues to let me sew for him as long as he thinks it's "cool!"
