The Betsy Big Pocket Jumper by Mack and Lily

Today, I’m reviewing Betsy’s “big pocket” Jumper by Mack and Lily.  This pattern features a circle skirt with big pockets.  It also has adjustable suspender type straps which cross in the back and attach with buttons on the inside. Along with the jumper, there is a big pocket skirt pattern included for another option.  Instructions are provided for adding ruffles, bias trim, and ric rac. Here is my version of the jumper and we love how it turned out.

I had this fabric and thought it would be perfect for the look I wanted.  The designer has instructions for placement of the various trim choices but you can be embellish your jumper/skirt in any way you choose.  I moved the bias binding to the bottom edge of the skirt and added some store bought trim I had in my collection.

This pattern is designed for sizes 2T - 10 and has easy to follow step by step instructions with brightly colored photos.  There are also tutorials for making your own bias binding and how to use and adjust your ruffler foot.

Although the designer provides a finished measurement chart, I would like to see a chart based on child body measurements so it would be easier determining which size to make.  Overall, I really like the look of the finished jumper. If you make one, please be sure to share your photos here because I can’t wait to see all the different fabric selections and styles you create.

Happy Sewing!
