Hello! Leonie here, ready to chat to you about the Satya Romper from Jennuine Design…. we’re in the throws of planning a family holiday to Fiji, so I was very keen to create this cute little piece for my daughter to wear while we are away - I am super happy with the result and so is my {not so girly} girl!

I’ve sewed with Jennuine Design patterns before and have previously found them to be very well put together, this one is no exception with fantastic information and tips on multi-sizing pattern pieces, alternative strap options and seam finishes, prior to reaching the well written instructions.

I’m just going to put this out there… I love it when designers take the time to have measurement charts in both metric and imperial. Out of necessity, I have learnt to use a combination and now frequently find cutting in imperial easier, but I know my children’s metric measurements and find it so much easier to just have it there in front of me. On this front, the charts for fabric requirements, child measurements, finished measurements and elastic cutting lengths get a big thumbs up!

To top it off, all elastic cutting tables are provided twice - both in the preamble and at the point it is required during construction in the step-by-step instructions.

The instructions have colour coded computer generated line drawings to accompany the written instructions. I am really, really bad at reading and sewing, so I absolutely love clear pictures - they really work well with my glance and sew technique. Having said that, I did take the time to read them for this review and found them to be very concise, with repeated statement of the seam allowance {the other thing that I’m always looking for!}.

So I know a lot of people like photos to provide inspiration - never fear, there are still plenty of those!

Onto the design itself… my daughter loves shorts, so it’s fantastic to have something that is pretty and shorts! It also has wonderful big pockets for putting hands in and collecting ‘stuff’, plus the elastic shoulder straps make it super easy for her to take on and off for toileting alone.
