Nichole is here today to bring you her review of the Brueram Dress. This dress has so many options, so keep reading to get the inside scoop!
Hello readers! Nichole here again, sew at home mom from Full of Grace Boutique. I am very happy to be here at Pattern Revolution reviewing the Brueram Top and Dress, by Sofilantjes (affiliate link). I am new to this designer, which is part of the reason I jumped at the review. I love trying new-to-me designers! Sometimes I tend to find my favorites, and not steer to far away from them.
Anyhow, I really did enjoy sewing up this pattern. It comes in the top, dress and maxi length. I choose to do maxi length. It also has options for elastic casings or shirring for the back. I choose shirring, and was happy with the outcome. Everything is nicely hidden in enclosed seams. And the gorgeous Jennifer Paganelli print from JoAnn doesn’t hurt things either.
The pattern goes into great detail in finding the perfect size, I choose to do a size 5 length, and size 2 bodice. It fits fairly well, but she does have room to grow. I probably should have choose to sew a size 4 in length, but she was in between sizes for height.
I was very happy to learn the entire bodice was enclosed. The construction was wonderful. It does call for some hand sewing the bodice front lining down. But, I had made the maxi skirt, and I wasn’t sure how to hand sew that lining down without my stitches showing on the skirts right side, so I did go ahead and just machine stitch my waist down. (hand stitching the lining down would work wonderfully for the skirt that has two layers, since the stitches would definitely be hidden.
The pattern includes a mixture of pictures and lines drawings. The line drawings had small print on them, indicating different things, (right from wrong side etc) and were hard for me to read. The printing was blurry. Not an issue if you just pay attention to the directions and not rely solely on the line drawings.
Overall, I was very happy with this pattern and will definitely buy more from them.
And now here's Leonie with her top version!
Did you notice they both used Jennifer Paganelli? Not even planned! And if you'd like to see more Sofiltantjes, just check out our other posts HERE.
