Cute as A Button Leggings by FooFoo Threads
/Hi there! I’m Kari from That's Sew Kari - Facebook with a review of Foo Foo Threads’ latest legging pattern -- Cute as a Button Leggings. These adorable leggings are made from comfy knit and are fabulous for showcasing your favorite buttons. The pattern covers sizes from itty-bitty (3/6m) up to girls’ 10.
I love that this pattern only uses 8 pages to print and the pattern was easy to assemble. I did find, however, the tutorial portion to be rather wordy for more experienced sewers. While a beginner will appreciate the extra help, I found myself skimming to get to the info I needed. Don’t skim too much though -- there are a couple options to choose so pay special attention to the instructions that pertain to your specific options.
I used a stretchy knit from Funkalicious Fabric in a gray/metallic silver/and white stripe. Usually I need to mash sizes when sewing for my slim girls, but my daughter was just on the cusp of the size 4 for the hip measurement so I was able to sew a straight 4. The length is intended to be crop (but there is an option for an added ruffle).
I love that these leggings are unique and offer a place to show off my favorite buttons. TIP: If you are sewing stripes, invest in a walking foot. My new machine came with one and I finally tried it on these stripes and it made it so much easier to match them.
Overall, these leggings turned out super adorable! I don’t care for the waist however; I’d rather have a yoga waist or attach the elastic to the top of the pants with my serger and then fold over, but that’s not a major drawback and easily fixed. My daughter really likes them and can’t wait to wear them again!
Wow! Those really are cute as a button! Kari did a great job on her version and Rachel and Raedene made adorable versions too! Check out their versions below. -Sarah
