T-Shirt and Blouse by Wardrobe by Me
/Hello there! This is Sarah and I am here today with a review of the Drop Shoulder Top by Wardrobe By Me. This is my first time making a pattern by this designer and I was pleasantly surprised by the how straightforward and easy this pattern was to make. The pattern is a basic drop shoulder top with short and long sleeves, a rounded neckline or v-neck, a straight or curved hem, and faced or bound necklines and sleeves. I made the short sleeve, curved hem options with facings for my neckline and sleeve hems.
The top was very quick to make; it took longer to put together the pattern and cut the fabric than to make it. I used a lightweight knit, although the pattern is also suitable for drapey wovens. I made the size 12 based on my measurements and found the fit to be very accurate. The only change I would make if I made it again would be to lengthen the top. It was a bit too short for me (I am tall, so I should have double checked that before I started, oops!) so I ended up leaving the bottom edge unhemmed to save on length. The beauty of knits is that you can get away with that!
I thought the top was really cute all by itself, but also loved it as a layering piece under a cardigan. I am eternally cold, so I have a cardigan to go with just about everything and always love a great layer piece to go under them. I went directly to dinner after taking my photos and really liked how the shirt wore through the night. I liked the shape and the construction; the facings are a nice finish and give it a clean, finished look. If you are looking for a quick and versatile top, this is one is a great bet!
Until next time,
Sarah
