The Sally Dress by My Childhood Treasures
/It's always nice to bring you a review from one of our sponsors, and today we have Brianne showing you her version of the Sally Dress from My Childhood Treasures. I'll not waste your time with chit chat, but I'll just turn it over to Brianne and let her tell you all about it!
Hey-O! It's Brianne from Ali Cat & Co. I have an awesome, nap time sew that is guaranteed to please the little girl in your world.
My Childhood Treasures' designs are adorable; I just can't get enough of them. Today, I have the Sally dress. The pattern also includes leggings, so you're getting TWO patterns in one. Awesome-sauce!
I'm really excited about this dress. My four year old is hard to please. She wants simple, colorful, and easy to play in clothing. Which is the opposite of frilly, girly, and sweet clothing I wish she would wear. Here is where the Sally dress is sneaky. You can totally make this a fun playground dress or fancy it up with a thicker knit for a nicer look.
The Deets:
- Size Range: 2-10
- Fabrics: knit with an 18-25% stretch recommended
- Sewing Level: beginner
- Sewing Time: 2 hours cut to last stitch
As I mentioned, this is a two hour cut to last stitch sewing. Totally a nap time project as it only has 33 short steps. Some of those steps don't count because that includes two different options for sewing the pocket with or without bias tape. Honestly, you're only looking about about 27 steps.
The instructions include several charts for fabric requirements, child measurements, and cutting diagrams. In order to assist beginners, there is a sewing terms glossary and many tips for sewing knits and what stitches to use. This dress is so simple; didn't use my seam ripper once! Gotta love those patterns!
Ali was quite pleased to put on this dress for photos and I am happy to find another pattern that she loves!
