Hey there! It’s nice to be back to review for Pattern Revolution. My name is Theresa. I am a stay at home, homeschooling mom of six. I taught myself to sew about three years ago and I sew and pattern test every free moment that I get. This week, I had the pleasure of reviewing The Beach Comber Halter Romper by Whimsy Couture Patterns.
The Beach Comber Halter Romper pattern is intended to be used with regular woven cotton or any lightweight fabric. The tutorial is thorough, clear and easy to follow. The instructions are very detailed. There are clear, step-by-step photos to aid in the understanding of these instructions. This pattern is great for all sewing levels. No special skills or advanced techniques are necessary for the basic construction of
this romper. It is a quick and easy sew!
The tutorial/pattern downloaded and printed easily. There are easy printing and assembly instructions included. The pattern pieces are very well drafted. They matched up perfectly and are nested, coded and clearly marked for each of the different sizes for easy cutting. I love that Denise uses different types of lines for the different sizes, rather than colors so that I can print in black and white. There is a size chart with measurements to help you pick the perfect size and a chart of fabric requirements for each size. A large range of sizes are included in this pattern: 12 months – 16! You will use this pattern for years.
This is a one piece romper. I did mine in one fabric, but you can certainly make it with multiple fabrics and have it look like a two piece. The bodice is a halter top and ties behind the neck. There is elastic in the back bodice and in the waist. The bodice is a bit fitted and the shorts have a roomy fit. The pattern is for a capri length romper, but directions are given for making it into shorts length as I did. It has ruffles on the
legs, but I opted to leave them off. Directions are given for the option of adding snap button tape to the legs.
I am thrilled with the romper and so is my daughter. It fits true to size. It has a clean finish, is comfortable and looks so cute on! This romper is perfect for summer wear and for a day at the beach. I think it can definitely be dressed up for a summer event if you use some fancier fabrics. I want to give it a try in terryfor a bathing suit cover up. I will definitely be making more of these!
Hi! Rebecca from Little Squash again with a review for the Beach Comber Halter Romper from Whimsy Couture.
Isn't she adorable? Okay, so I'm a little partial but I love this romper. The ruffled legs, added bow, and pleat in the legs, just so cute and perfect for warm summer days. She is a shorty so the capri is a little longer on her but that means this will likely fit next summer as well.
With a tie halter and elastic in the back and waist I don't have to worry about her outgrowing the top early!
There are also two modifications to this pattern available: an optional snap crotch tutorial as well as how to make this shorts length instead. Happy sewing!
