Pattern Emporium: Girl's Harem Pants
/This week I had the pleasure of stitching up some ADORABLE play pants for my very active preschooler! I chose the Pattern Emporium Girl's Harem Pants.
I love this pattern for oh-so-many reasons. Let me tell you why!
- 3 Pockets styles, or none at all. The cutest of which are these bubble pockets!
- 3 Ankle styles - Full elastic casing, band, or standard hem.
- Knee or Pant Length
- Elastic waist, with or without drawstrings.
That's 48 potential combinations in EIGHT sizes (3-10). Outside this size range? Kate's got you covered with baby, women's AND doll versions of this pattern! Worried you can't decide which version to make? Enjoy 4 pages of professional photographs to inspire your own creation.
This heavier linen pant is great for cooler weather. Dress it up with fashion denim or make lounge pants with some cozy sweat shirt fleece. Come warmer weather, break out the light chambray or cottons. I love the relaxed fit on these pants, too. Whichever fabric you pick, you'll have a perfect, cozy fit, great for play, and great for surviving the endless growth spurts of childhood. These should last at least a year in her closet!
The pitfall of this pattern may be the seemingly 43 pages to print. BUT DON'T BE FOOLED! On page 7, there's a handy printing chart so you print only the pages you need for the style pant you want. Which in my case required only five pattern pieces (front, back, and 3 pocket pieces).
There are 24 pages of instructions, complete with clear, thorough photographs; 7 pages of fabric requirements, size charts, table of contents, helpful tips, and 5 thoroughly illustrated pattern variations.
This pattern is as thorough as they come, and the product is stinkin' adorable. Enjoy!!
