Hi my name is Angie and I blog over at Raising The Cho. I'm a working Mom of 4 sweet kiddo's. I love to sew in what ever free time I get. I've been sewing off and on for about 10 years. Some stuff my Mother taught me, but for most part I'm pretty much self taught.
Today I'm reviewing the Adelphi Girls Purse pattern by Hold it Right There. Let me start by saying my very first few sewing projects were hand bags. I haven't made one in some time so this was so fun to get back to something I love. I found this pattern very easy. And would rate it a beginner pattern. Very straight forward and well written with great step by step photos. I had this purse finished in less than 2 hours, and that was with the help of my 2 year old assistant - The Cho.
This Pattern review came at the perfect time because I had just made my daughter a dress her for 2 year old pictures. So, I decided to make the purse to match. To be honest, the only problem I had at all was getting used to the pom pom trim. And that's just because I've never used it before. Actually, I believe this is the very first time I've ever used my zipper foot - and it is probably the most action my zipper foot will ever see. Zipper's make me want to drink and curse like a sailor, so I avoid them like the plague. Back to the trim, it really wasn't hard at all once I got the hang of it! When you get to the side seams with the straps, it may be a bit thick - I found it helped to hand crank my machine over the thickest section and it went together great.
The Cho loves her new purse. It's perfect to keep her pink razor cell phone in, along with all her other toddler essentials, on trips to the park. Now whenever we leave the house, she has to grab her purse. Now my very non-girly and extremely PICKY 11 year old wants one too!
The Cho has been carrying her purse for several days now. And I can say this purse is very sturdy will hold up great. I will definitely be making more of these as they go together so quickly. You could use fat quarters or even scraps to make this purse. This purse will also make a great super quick gift for all the young girls in your life. The options are endless!
