I was thrilled when I was able to join the designer's challenge. I had been wanting to work on this
dress and apron pattern set for a while but had never gotten around to it. This challenge got me
working on it and I love it.
For me the challenge wasn't in the smocked apron, for me it was the
under dress, I have always been nervous about making a pattern with an armhole and a sleeve and a
collar, it was a lot of work and a lot of fun.
I have named this set Springtime Jubilee. The pattern is available in girls sizes 2 to 8
It includes the pattern for the apron which also comes with a geometric
smocking plate, that includes puffing, to smock the bodice. Apron has halter ties around the neck and
closes at the back waist with ties.
It also includes the pattern for the under dress that features a peter pan
collar with puff sleeves and bound arm holes. Dress has button closure in the back.
In the pattern are step by step instructions with illustrated images for
each step. Also given is simple seam finishing instructions as well as alternatives for heirloom finishing,
which include french seams and bound seams.
Also included is the option to either print out all the rectangular pieces or
you can use measurements from a chart so you can save on paper and printing. (sorry this pattern does not give instructions on how to smock)
