Hello, my name is Melanie, I am the designer of Filles à Maman . I design patterns for my daughters Julia, Adele and Clara . The Designer 's Challenge is for me a golden opportunity to get out of my comfort zone by drawing my first pants pattern and doing something for the boys at the same time.

I really want to thank Frances Twinning for encouraging me to participate in this challenge and making me meet plenty of talented designers.

I used a plain fabric for the waist and ankle bands but the possibilities are endless.

The original idea for those pants was that I wanted so bad this model for me. I wanted to do a little "self-care sewing " for once. As the research was unsuccessful, I decided to draw in a toddler size to test the model on my twins . I liked the result so I did a little bigger for Julia (size 12). I have always in mind to do the pattern in adult sizes, another challenge for me ....

The pattern includes sizes from 12m to 14 years and instructions are also available in french. Most knitted fabrics can be used for making those pants. A wide elastic holds waist in place. It is possible to remove the pockets in a very simple way explained in the tutorial. There are very detailed instructions and photos for all steps of the realisation. All measurement are in english and metric system as well.
