And here is the inside scoop on Denise - the incredible talent behind Whimsy Couture.

Can you give me a little background about yourself? :) Hi there! So happy to be interviewed today! My background in my career is business management (German bachelor's) but I worked as a photo/camera specialist in a small independent business. I was born and raised in Germany and moved to the US when I was 27.

Who taught you to sew and when? I took home economics in high school and tinkered with garment construction. Much later I fell in love with sewing and thereafter with actually designing sewing patterns.

How did you get started in design? When I started sewing, my first love were Barbie dresses and then all kinds of pet items. Then when my son was born and started making him little pants and had to "copy" my first design to make him bigger pants and soon I was left with many templates of one style of pants. That got me thinking and started grading patterns for my kids (I got a daughter a bit later). This really brought me into making my own patterns and offering them for sale.

What inspires you? Pretty much anything from the fashion in stores, the fabric itself and even nature.

What are your future plans for your shop? I would like to be able to offer the very best PDF patterns to my customers. I am currently having a website designed.

Is there anything you want our readers to know? That's a wonderful question! Yes! I want them to know how much I appreciate each and every one of my customers and those that are thinking about becoming one! I have met some wonderful folks through my business who never cease to inspire me.
