Read MoreIt is the Monday of Thanksgiving week, and that means.............CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!! Hahahah, I know that the stores have been filled with holiday decorations for weeks, and all the ads on TV are screaming buy me buy me! But for me, when you hit the week of Thanksgiving, it is truly the Holiday Season. And not one to skip over being thankful first, I just have to give the biggest shout-out to the Pattern Revolution team. You can't imagine how thankful I am for these women. Not only are they crazy talented, they are also the most caring and generous group of ladies I have ever know - and I am grateful to call them my sewing sisters!!!
Read MoreThey say there is a fine line between admiration and stalking. Some of you may have already crossed it. Perhaps I have as well. As I sit here typing, listening to Chicago' s "You're the Inspiration" and thinking about all the designers I have (for lack of a better word) professional crushes on, I imagine myself building a little shrine to commemorate their work, a place where I can go to meditate, pay homage, and receive inspiration from the creativity gods. Ha, just kidding, I am not a total whacko!!! But seriously, there are designers who inspire me and challenge me with their designs, ladies who make patterns that make me smile, and make me and my kids look pretty darn cute, and I wouldn't even be sewing without them. So, what's a girl to do when it's not socially acceptable to actually stalk someone and tell them how much you love them? Well, here's one answer:
Before you go all nutzo on me, we're not actually going to stalk our favorite designers. Please do not show up on Brownie Goose's doorstep with a dozen roses and a love note and tell her Pattern Revolution sent you. PLEASE. DO NOT! It's just a play on words. Oh, you got that already? Stalking = Stocking. OK, moving forward!
Here's the plan: Choose a designer or a pattern you love, one that speaks to you, one that moves you, one that inspires you. Then, take our FREE STOCKING PATTERN and put the two together. How? You figure it out. Turn your stocking into a love song for Ellie Inspired. Sew up a message in a bottle for Tie Dye Diva. Compose a handmade, heartfelt sonnet for Foo Foo Threads. The only tools you need are your imagination, your sewing machine, and the stocking pattern.
Yes, in essence this is a design challenge. Use the stocking pattern as your block, add or take away as needed. Be creative, and most importantly of all, be sure that your stocking somehow captures the essence of the designer you are stalking. You can stalk any designer you want! Make sense? Here are few examples for you.
Of course, all the designers are hoping to be stalked by fans, and are looking forward to your creativity and I'm busy putting together some pretty AMAZING prize packages. Yeah, we're talking big packages with lot of patterns! So, let's keep this simple.
Good Luck!
