Exploring Modern Yardage
/Did you catch that?!?! PRE-SHRUNK! That means when the fabric arrives to you in it's package you can instantly cut and sew. WOHOOO!!! I love anything that is so instantly gratifying.
Now there are quite a few fun things about the fact that Modern Yardage is Printing this fabric to order - they are going to print exactly what you need, and they can mix two prints on one continuous piece of fabric. From a standpoint of wanting to reduce waste - this is ingenious. This also allows Modern Yardage to constantly change their designs and designers so that the freshest most modern trends are always just a click away!
Now my absolute favorite thing about Modern Yardage is that within a design they can print in THREE different scales. This puts you in control of your sewing design, and brings a whole new level to getting to play with fabric!
I sewed up the new Explorer Skirt by Hey There Designs. This is a simple design that allows you to showcase fabric in different pairings to your heart's content. I went with Circles of Life from the Poetry in Motion line by Karen Harris. I went with Midnight in the Large scale, and Robins Egg in the Small scale. It is so fun to me how different the same design looks in the different scale. I added a bound hem to the pattern to add a little more Robin's Egg.
Now, with this style of skirt on a toddler, you need a little bit of diaper coverage (as seen in those first sitting images!) Luckily, I had enough scraps left over to eeek out this adorable Ruffled Diaper Cover that LilyBird studio designed for Create HOPE Designs (where all proceeds go to helping children in need around the world)
And the photo overload... I love how easily this skirt works for warmer weather and yet will transition perfectly to fall with tights and boots!
ciao - I'm off to EXPOLRE! |
- Thank you so much to Modern Yardage for sending me this fabric to play with! While I did receive this fabric for free for the purpose of this review, all opinions expressed are 100% my own.
