/Day four of our Sew Yourself Some Love feature and Maryanna is showing us this beautiful Spin Me Round quilt by Modkid Boutique. Maryanna is reviving her love of quilting and this one has helped rekindle that fire. Read on and Maryanna will let you in on a little surprise with this quilt.
Hey guys! Maryanna from Marvelous Auntie M here. For Sew Yourself Some Love this year I chose to do a quilt. Quilts are the reason I started sewing seven years ago. Quilts are my favorite thing to make. I haven’t been able to make many quilts over the last few years. I have just been collecting (read: drooling over) quilt patterns and dreaming about one day being able to make more quilts. This year I am getting back to why I love sewing and making more quilts. I am making the time to sew what I love. This one is actually number four for the year so I’m off to a fantastic start! I think I was only able to finish one last year.
I have these fabrics that I preordered last January that have just been waiting to be turned in to a quilt. This is the Dreamer line by Carrie Bloomston and the colors in this line are all my favorite colors right now. Sometimes you choose fabric with a pattern in mind and other times you buy the fabric and wait to discover just the right pattern. This print calls for 14 prints for the strips and it just so happened that I had 14 fabrics left from this line in my stash! I’m down to scraps of a 15th so I had to improvise and use a Kona solid for my center square but I love how the solid looks in the middle. Shitake is a great solid match for this line of fabric.
The piecing for the back is included in the pattern and I love how it incorporates a fabric from the front. Did I mention that this is a free pattern? You can go download it from ModKid Boutique’s website! The front is assembled a bit differently than a traditional quilt top but just follow the directions and it turns out beautifully. The finished quilt measures approximately 46” square.
Good morning Pattern Revolution SYSL fans. Today we have two awesome bloggers on the blog tour sharing the things that they have created for themselves. But first I want to share a little bit about one of our Prize Sponsors, Halla Fabric (find them on FaceBook).
