Elizabeth Pinafore by The Handmaiden's Cottage (and a sew along!)

Hi it is Katy from My China Doll and I am here with the Elizabeth Pinafore pattern from Handmaiden's Cottage. I am a huge fan of vintage style patterns and I love the gorgeous scalloped bodice edges of this sweet pinafore pattern.
The pattern is available in sizes 2 to 8 girls and features a full twirly skirt with a growth pleat hem to give some longevity to your sewing project when your child has a growth spurt.
When I make up a new pattern, I like to turn my garment inside out and inspect the finishes. The bodice and skirt are fully enclosed within the waistband and the raw edge of the hemline is enclosed within the growth pleat resulting in a beautiful garment inside and out.
There are pattern pieces for the bodice but the waistband and skirt pieces are rectangles with measurement tables to refer to, which I personally prefer, as it saves paper, ink and time; and because I like to use a rotary cutter, mat and ruler to create my fabric rectangles referring to the measurement tables is easier I think.
I used a lovely quilting cotton for this dress and depending on the fabric you choose is what season it could be worn for. It is possible to wear the pinny on its own on a hot summery day because the bodice has ample coverage, but it also looks sweet paired with a blouse or t-shirt under for modesty or spring/autumnal weather, and I can imagine a lovely velvet version layered with stockings and a thermal under for the cooler winter months. It is such a lovely versatile pattern that I know I will continue to sew.
