Hey all y’all!! I’m back for Sew Yourself Some Love!! I had so much fun last year creating special outfits for myself I knew I wanted to participate again this year. This is a everyday look that you can easily take day to night by switching up a different blouse and adding some heels. This is the ultimate comfort outfit. I am a total t-shirt and jeans kinda gal when I’m not wearing my favorite love leggings and sweatpants.

Today I am excited to feature the Baste + Gather Birkin Flares and the Made for Mermaids Mama Ava top.

I have been eyeing this pants since Lauren released the pattern. The pattern has the following features:

I got over my fear of zippers, double needles, speciality jean thread and rivets. Each of these details made for a beautifully sewn pair of jeans I’m proud to wear. I love the high waist; I made my thigh more form fitting as it flared out once it got past my thighs. The speciality thread I purchased made them look just like you find in store bought jeans. I used a medium weight denim I distressed with a wire brush for a more worn look. I do highly recommend you take the time to make a few muslin drafts for these jeans so if you need to adjust the rise, length, or the width. You can make all those notes before cutting into your main fabric. I learned that I needed to take in more length for my next pair. The fit of these Birkin Flares is so flattering on every shape, size, and figure and I highly recommend giving the pattern a try. I’m sure you’ll be over the moon just as I am. I love the 70s vibe of these pants and can’t wait to make a voile 70s inspired top to pair with my next Birkin Flares.

I’m a huge fan of Megan’s, I own every single Made for Mermaids pattern! I love Mama Ava and the curved hemline is so flattering that it takes the basic t-shirt up a notch. This shirt is so flattering, once again, like the Birkin Flares on every shape, size, and figure. Mama Ava features:

I got this Traeger Grills t-shirt from an event I went to and this was a men’s XL. I’m a size grey in Made for Mermaids so I used the front and back of my shirt with my pattern pieces and (yay) it fit perfectly with the scoop neck option . I had to take an extra inch off my shoulder seams since I’m only 4’9”. I found this fun athletic knit at Joann and thought it was a fun option to use for my sleeve and neckline.

This is the perfect everyday outfit you can wear to work, running errands, out to lunch, or like me for chasing your kids around the house. Then going out you can dress up your pair of jeans with a tank top, flowly top, or my personal favorite bodysuits. I have a newfound love for them and like the flare jeans bodysuits are making a huge come back as well.
