Sew Ready for Fall: The Amy Dress by My Childhood Treasures
/Today is our final installment of our Sew Ready for Fall feature. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. How could we close out a fall feature without a Halloween inspired post right? Rachel closes us out with the Amy Dress from My Childhood Treasures adding a fun and spooky vinyl transfer.
Hi! Rachel here today with a fun sew for fall - I chose the Amy Dress from My Childhood Treasures for a cute look for Miss P. There are long and short sleeves (both dolman style) included in the pattern as well as two neckband variations (the basic neckband and a mock turtleneck). I opted for short sleeves and the basic neckband, and I sewed a straight size 6 from cotton/lycra knit - her measurements put her in a 5 for chest and hips but a 7 or 8 for height, but I was hoping she’d get a bit more wear out of this and was fine with it being a short dress. The fit is exactly as I’d expected - Miss P has some growing room but not so much that it looks shapeless or sloppy. We paired it with leggings made from a fun Vintage Lace custom print in brushed poly, and she’s all set for any October festivities!
Oh, and one more thing: I added a fun vinyl design from a cut file by Katy McKinley of Thread & Grain (www.threadandgrain.com), and she’s offering a special discount code for PR readers. You can use the code “PatternRevolution” for 15% off your purchase in her shop - from now through Sunday, 10/8! Thanks, Katy!
Summer time means swimming and young ladies need a lot of fashionable and functional suits. Heather uses fabric with built in SPF to help meet functionality part and the leotard # 10 from My Childhood Treasures meets the fashionable part.
