Swim your way through the Summer
/Summer is here, and that means time at the beach, pool, or in your backyard splashing thorugh wading pools and sprinklers to beat the heat. And all of that means SWIMSUITS!!!!!
Swim wear is cute and diverse - there are a variety of styles for every age and taste, and guess what - you can make them ALL.
The average girl's suit at Target will run you about $16-20. Boy's trunks go for $12.99-15 and you can throw in a rash guard for another $12.99. Gap has girls suits from $20-30 and boys sets ranging about $30-40. Not a huge deal for your budget if you just need one suit. But then there are the sites that tantilize us.... like Vineyard Vines, where one pair of boys trunks will run you $55. And this adorable suit from Rachel Riley Glam retails for $129 (although currently on sale for $70).
Yeah, I want those cute things.... and I have three kids, and they each need at least 2 suits, and that adds up fast!!!!
Sewing to the rescue!!!! Most suits take 1/2-1 yard depending on size and extra features, and more and more companies are carrying swim fabric these days - check out Girl Chalee's swim knits and Scubba knits! And your pattern options are growing by the day. As an avid upcycler, I discovered that you can make a pair of boy's trunks from a pair of men's trunks - SCORE!!!
All this week we are going to share great suits for your boys and girls, but today I will start you off with a flash back of all the suits we have reviewed here so far at Pattern Revolution.
This is going to be such a fun week, so don't miss out on any of the new suits that we are going to show off. Today you can see a closer look at the Jalie 3350 on the Reviews Page.
