Trend Report: Relax Fit Pants
/When my family moved to San Francisco last month, it quickly dawned on me: Fall weather had come early.
Unfortunately, my Fall wardrobe had not! (Let's pretend for a second that I have a Fall wardrobe, and not just a few pieces of clothes I wear for a few months until the seams bust...) I had to start from scratch. Which is just as well, because my suburban Virginia style was *so* not West Coast. ;)
I started my trend research where I normally do: my favorite stores. What jumped out at me? What could I work into my everyday? What can I sew for much. much. less? I instantly fell in love with these relax-fit pants:
Next on the to-do list was finding a pattern. And I didn't have to search for long! Heather from Teach Me Fashion promoted these crop trousers in our Pattern Revolution group that same week. I fell instantly in loooooove!
I picked up $10 worth of clearance ikat stripe Dear Stella fabric from a local shop, and got started! There were only 3 pattern pieces to assemble, and an elastic waistband closure, so I knocked these out in no time.
The side pockets make these a great utility sew for all mommas. I think I'll fashion welt pockets in the back of my next pair, too.
They're a perfect substitute for jeans, yoga pants, or (as is frequently my case..) pajama pants ;) You can dress them up for date night, or wear them casually for dates with the kiddos at the park. I've styled mine with heels here, but I'll be rocking these with flats all over town.
So what do you think?? How will you wear this relaxed fit trouser trend? What other trends are you eyeing?
