Fabric for BOYS!!!!!!!!!! Introducing Mabel Madison
/Hey dear readers, I am constantly asked about where to find and buy great knit fabrics. Well, I have tons of shops I love to recommend. But then, people go on to specify that they are looking for BOY fabric. Oh well, ummmmmmmmmmm....... It isn't that my favorite shops don't carry anything for boys, but the pickings can be slim and are often limited to one or two boyish designs and a decent selection of solids.
But now I have the perfect answer - Mabel Madison!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Emily has done a fabulous job setting up a US shop that specializes in Euro knits, cord, velour, and poplin. These are high end fabrics that aren't going to pill or fade (I've already washed mine a couple times and the colors are just as vibrant as when they arrived!), that you can't find at your regular fabric shop down the road. I can already tell, you are reading and saying 'yeh yeh yeh- but what about BOYS!?!?!?'
All right - well head over the Mabel Madison and click on the 'Fabric for Boys' link - voila... pages of awesome vibrant prints and solids with your boy's creative and adventurous spirit in mind. And don't limit yourself to just those pages, I happen to love this zebra print and would 100% put it on my boys even though it isn't in the 'boy's' section! And you can score 15% off the whole shop through Oct 31st!!!!
Here are a few more of my boy favorites:
I started off with the Stenzo Planes and Moons in blue with the coordinating blue stripe (another thing I love, Emily has coordinates to go with just about anything - not sure if something will match, just ask her and she will help you out!)
I love raglan tee's for my kiddos, comfy, easy to wear, and always stylish. I always want my boys to have a sense of individuality.... they are twins, but I try to not dress them 'exactly' alike. I used the Fishsticks Honor Roll Raglan Henley and the Stitchwerx Lane Raglan Tee. These are both outstanding patterns and were perfect for showing off this awesome fabric.
The boy's of course had to wear them with their Aviator Pants ;o)
Mack is never happy if she doesn't get something fun as well, so I was able to quickly make her an Amy Dress by My Childhood Treasures (this is such a fast sew and a fun way to mix and match fabrics.) I went with the Verhee's French Flowers in Purple and asked Emily to pick a great coordinate for it form the solids. I am so happy that she picked the pink for my pink and purple princess - I swear Mack can hold her own against two big brothers and rocks the athletic department of our family, but she still LOVES some pink and purple and glitter! (she was not into pictures, so I'll have to get more on another day ;op)
