The Tessa Wrap Dress by My Childhood Treasures

Hi it is Katy from My China Doll and I am reviewing the Tessa Wrap Dress pattern by My Childhood Treasures. The pattern is designed for woven fabrics and caters from sizes 2 to 10 girls. It is a true wrap dress which features waist bow ties and snaps for closure. I used a gorgeous border print and this dress was perfect for it. I modified the side I attached the bow ties to because of how I cut the print on the bodice.

I really love the beauty of seeing the inside of my garment neatly finished. I made modification to the finishing of the skirt attachment to enclose the waist seams. The cute little cap sleeves are a part of the bodice so they offer some sun protection, a cute design feature and are super easy to sew instead of having to attach set in sleeves.  My daughter is a size 5 width 7 length combination. Mashing sizes was a little tricky due to the way the bodice pieces are nested in groups of 2-5 years and 6-10years, but I got a perfect fit based on the measurement chart.

The pattern pieces are not layered but all pattern pieces are included in printed form. I like to save on printing and I would have preferred an optional table of measurement for all the rectangular pieces, but it is easy to have a print out of the pieces too. It sewed up quickly and it would definitely suit a beginner sewist.

My daughter absolutely loved the Tessa dress and continued to wear it after our photoshoot. She has already requested another. Fabric selection can completely change the look of this dress too. Worn on its own or layering with long sleeves and tights, you can wear this dress all year round. I am sure you will love making this design.

Happy sewing
