Foo Foo Threads Bygone Rose

I miss the days of frilly dresses and girly ruffles! The Foo Foo Threads Bygone Rose is one of those perfect dresses for little girls, just the right amount on twirl and ruffles that can be dressed up or dressed down! I love the prints Trisha chose for her little girl!

My youngest daughter is all about the frills, and all thing girly.  At 2 years old, she is all about wearing mama’s heels, and will often try to take them off my feet so she can put them on herself.  I’m going to be in trouble when she gets older, I can already tell.

She has recently had a growth spurt and few of her dresses fit her anymore, so I knew she needed some new ones.  For all things frilly I immediately think of FooFoo Threads.  All the ruffles and sweet innocence instantly makes my girls feel like a princess.  The Bygone Rose dress is no different.

As with almost all FooFoo Threads patterns, there are options for this dress.  You can do it with just the overskirt, or just the underskirt, which has the ruffles attached, or both skirts.  You can do it with a sash or without.  You can do it with or without the neck ruffle, or choose to add your own trim there instead.  You can make it tunic length, or dress length.  You can shirr the sleeves, or use an elastic casing.  For mine, I chose to do it dress length, with both skirts, with the neck ruffle and sash, and I did the elastic casings on the sleeves.  This bodice does close with buttonholes, but I changed them out for snaps instead to make it more Daddy friendly, per his request.

The instructions for this dress are very detailed and have both line drawings and photos to guide you through each step.  It does take a bit of time to sew, if you do all the options, with all the ruffles and gathering, etc.  I worked on it over the course of about 3 days, but the final outcome was definitely worth it.  I tried the bodice on my daughter to check the fit before I attached the skirt, and she didn’t want to take it off, haha!  I call that a win.  The Bygone Rose dress definitely fits the criteria for my ruffle loving, all frills, little girl.
