I know that some of you have been following along with the great BundleUP sales that Pattern Revolution has been lining up in the past months.  We've had girl's and women's bundles, but now, it's time for the BOYS to do some bundling!  There is a great line up of patterns from some of your favorite designers, as well as a few from a new face or two.  You know by now that this is definitely the way to build a better bundle!

Now that I have that out of the way, let me tell you about our first boy's pattern up for review. Meet the Butler Britches from Amy of Brownie-Goose.

These pants.  This fabric.  This BOY!  I'm seriously clinging to every moment of him, as he's our last kiddo and it's been fun to get to sew for him while he's still too young to give me grief about what I make him wear.  But what fashionable fella would balk at fun details like these asymmetrical cuffs and pocket, paired with this fabulous Empire line from Parson Gray?  These pants are a must have and I'm just itching to sew up a few (or 10) more.  (The irony of the Butler Britches being matched up with fabric by David Butler (Parson Gray/Mr. Amy Butler) is not lost on me.  In fact, it was totally intentional.)

I've lured you in with these amazingly cool pants, so let me tell you a little more.

  • Generous size range: 6-12M to 10
  • Flat front and full elastic waist options
  • Two fabulous pockets to choose from
  • Nested pattern pieces and a measurement chart for rectangles
  • Color pictures and lots of easy-to-follow instructions

One of the most endearing qualities of a Brownie-Goose pattern, in my opinion, is that they are a FUN read.  Amy instructs you like a friend that's showing you the ropes of a sewing project, while sprinkling fun Amy-isms (I DIE!!!) and warnings based on the bumps she had along the way ("Do you have little steam-burnt fingers yet like I do?  Ouch!  Ouch!  Ouch!")  I love reading BG patterns almost as much as I love sewing them!  This pattern is easy enough for a beginner but it has enough details to keep even the most accomplished seamstress happy.  If I HAD to pick something I'd change, I would love to see how these played out in clam digger and Bermuda shorts lengths.

'Scuse me....does this asymmetrical pocket make my butt look big?!?!

The Boy's BundleUp sale will run from August 22-29 and we'll be coming at you with reviews of all the patterns as the even draws near.  You're not going to want to miss it!  I'm so glad that I got to share this pattern with you!  Jessica, from Snickerdoodle Stew, signing off!
