The Sophie Cape from My Little Plumcake

There's just something about Mommy and Me outfits that is simply endearing. You can totally go matchy-match and wear the exact same fabrics or mix it up and just coordinate, especially if you have older daughters. Throw in the ability to SEW your own matching outfits and then you really have something special! Today's review is of the Sophie Cape from My Little Plumcake, which now comes in Women's sizes as well! It's always great to see what Serena sews up for her little sweetie, but this time mama takes center stage, too!

And did I mention this cape is on SALE?!?! My Little Plumcake is offering 50% off your entire purchase through Cyber Monday, December 1, 2014! Use coupon code: JOY2014 at checkout. Now I'll turn it over to Serena!

Yay for the Sophie Cape…for my sweet Sofia and me! My Little Plumcake has just released the Sophie Cape and whoa, it’s cute! Confessional: this is my first ever self care sewing project and I happen to love how it turned out.

This pattern has two different sizing versions, the children’s comes in sizes 18mo up to an 8, and then the women’s version comes in sizes XS up to XXL. She even has the pattern in a "Mommy and Me" bundle on Etsy!

Pattern Includes:

  • Different length options for the women’s pattern (Petite, Regular, and Long)
  • Full tutorial with tons of color photos (I’m a visual learner…I need photos!)
  • Printing layout and instructions
  • Fabric requirements, final measurements, cutting layout
  • Fabric requirements for 45” and 60” fabric
  • Materials list and options to have different looks
  • Photo tutorial on how to create a button hole without a buttonhole foot

I would rate this at an Advanced Beginner, there are no zippers, but the gathering and buttonholes would make it a little more tedious than expected. It was pretty simple to put together but took quite some time working with all that material. In the pattern there is an option to sew up your own belt but I loved the look of the leather belt with the cape.

This was so much fun and my daughter loves that we have matching capes. She felt pretty special today!

Happy Crafting,

Serena
