Hi fellow sewing friends....I am Raedene the gal behind Chasing Mermaids Boutique. When I am not spending all my days as a mom to 3 awesome kids I am sewing up pretties for my shop. I love to try new patterns and review them on my BLOG! I also enjoy testing for the talented designers! I have to admit I have been very pattern loyal in the past-buying from only a few! BUT I vowed to branch out and discover all the talent out there!

I must confess the members of my family are water obsessed. All 5 of us. We do swim team/pool playdates daily and visit the beach on weekends. We are in a pool or ocean almost every day when the warm weather arrives. AND here in the SOUTH that is usually by the end of April!! So there is a great NEED for lots of swimsuits in our house. Well, maybe I should say an obsession, not a need....I love cute little girly swimsuits. It is the one thing I don't make for my girls....well, until NOW.

When asked if I would be interested in reviewing a swimsuit pattern I was thrilled and jumped at the chance.

1. I had never sewn a swimsuit but I love to buy them.

2. I had recently bought an embroidery machine and knew this would be a great pattern to applique a design.

3. I LOVE seersucker.

So I was SOLD....I made this adorable suit: The Abby Seersucker One Piece Swim Suit by Haute Diggity. I immediately knew I would put a cute mermaid on the front as I am obsessed with mermaids too! My little one picked out some rainbow ric rac and we were all ready to sew it up.

The pattern pieces were very easy to print and there was little to line up so it was a breeze to put together. I LOVED how she had a printing list for sizes, ruffle strips etc. so you didn't have to weed through the whole pattern to get what you were looking for.

I would say this pattern is written for an intermediate sewer. It laid out the steps with pictures to follow and although it isn't as detailed a pattern as I am used to, the end result is adorable.  I had never used bathing suit lining before so this was a great learning experience. The full suit is fully lined. The ruffle around the bodice was simple to construct and it fit just right!

The sizing was perfect for my lil one. I was worried as swimsuits in the BOX stores tend to run small BUT this one was spot on! Another great feature: the coverage in the front is perfect~no peeping privates!

My little mermaid had to put it on immediately even though swim team practice for big brother and sister was a few hours away! My older girl is begging for one too! I mean why wouldn't she, is it adorable. This looks super cute on and I have even been thinking about all the creativity with color or fabric combinations, trim and appliqué/monogram designs. The possibilities are endless.

As my Scottish Grandma would say she is a little HAM! She was rocking this swimsuit like she was on the CATWALK !!

AND would NOT take it off!

The neck tie halter look is great for allowing room to grow. She will be showing this off all summer long. If you have a cutie this pattern runs from 3-6 months all the way to size 6. I remember in my days before sewing I drooled over these on certain websites with cute little designs and I thought my girls need those...Well looky here, I made my very own version and we are in LOVE. Go fall in love with your own creation using this sweet swimsuit pattern!
