/Hello! Heather from All Things Katy!, here! Today, I’m sharing the Men’s Rocky Tee from 5 out of 4 Patterns.
If you are anything like me, I’ve got lots and lots of patterns for myself and my daughter (dare I admit it- HUNDREDS?!)! However, I rarely- if ever- sew for my husband and main man. I think I can count on one hand the things that I’ve sewn for him (and not all of them successful ;-). As my sewing skills have progressed, so has my husband’s not-so-veiled requests to sew HIM something special.
The Men’s Rocky Tee from 5 out of 4 Patterns is the perfect casual wear staple! The Men’s Rocky Tee pattern includes several different sleeve lengths (sleeveless, short or long), two different necklines and comes in sizes XXS-5XL…WOW (!!) What a great size range! After consulting the included size and finished measurement charts, I sewed up a straight size medium, crew neck, no pocket shirt with no mods. I used a textured 2-way stretch knit for the body of shirt (Hubs specially selected ;-) and cotton lycra for the neckband. The Men’s Rocky Tee came together in a matter of minutes- so quick to sew up!
Hubs LOVED having a new shirt made just for him! He told me that the fit across the chest and overall shirt length were the perfect fit for him. He’s already got two or three more shirts planned for me to sew- ha! If he’s a happy camper, then so am I!

Oh men… I don’t know else to say except that if the men in your life are anything like my husband you’re going to need to add this pattern to your buy list. I have been sewing for a little over 2 years now and it would be fair to say that my daughter gets most of the things I make, then I will occasionally do some selfish sewing, and very last… way way down on the list… hubby. Now, it’s not like I don’t want to make him things… I just don’t usually think he wants anything until I make something kind of matchy for my daughter and I and then I hear “Well, do I get to match too?”... The Men’s Rocky Tee is a semi-fitted men’s t shirt with options including crew or v-neck, sleeveless, short or long sleeves (hemmed or cuffed), pocket and thumbhole cuffs. It’s finally starting to get warmer here so I made my husband the short sleeve crew neck with the pocket and hemmed sleeves. He has also officially requested at least ten more. It’s nice to have found a pattern that he feels like fits him well, from the fit across the chest and the length of the shirt, he said “it feels really great.” So, there you have it.
