Growing Up Handmade-Sweetheart Dress from Patterns for Pirates and Hudson Top from Greenstyle Creations

We are so excited to be taking part in the Growing Up Handmade Tour Today.  As our children get older, the challenge of finding patterns that are in the correct size range and also the correct style for them is greater, but we are showing two looks today that are sure to keep your older kids in momma made clothes! If you are looking for additional designers that carry patterns in sizes to accommodate your older kids, scroll to the bottom to see the sponsors of this tour.  There's also a great giveaway and a link up party listed at the end of this post.  So without further ado, here are Paige and Laura with their Growing Up Handmade looks...

Paige

I have sewn clothes for my kids since they were young.   I remember thinking, when they get older they won’t want me to sew anything for them.  That didn’t happen because there are appealing patterns for teens.  Although their fashion choices have changed through the years, they always seem to find something they like and want me to make for them.   I let my girls pick the patterns and the fabrics so I know it’s something they will wear.  My daughter chose the Sweetheart Dress by Patterns for Pirates.  She picked a solid black fabric for the main part of the dress and a sheer fabric with silver sparkle.  It gives the dress a subtle bling.  It’s the perfect style for a young girl and she’s happy with how it looks.

Laura

This is my baby. Only, he’s not a baby anymore is he? I remember the days when all he wanted to wear was mommy-made clothes...then he hit double digits, lol!  I found this great dinosaur fabric a few months ago and lured him back to the dark side my way of thinking.

After I had the fabric in hand, I thought about all the patterns out there.  Ultimately, I decided to go with the Hudson Hooded T-Shirt by Greenstyle Creations.  I actually tested this pattern (almost 4 years ago, yikes!), so I knew that it would go together great.  It’s a quick and easy pattern with lots of style options--of course, he wanted it as plain as possible. (Short sleeves was a request that was very easy to grant!)

I don’t know how much longer he will let me sew for him, so I’m headed back for more fabric while he’s still in the mood...
