Sew Yourself Some Love before it is too late!!!

Hello again! It’s Denita from HattieLu Handmade. Have you been sewing for yourself? I have this month and love the results. It’s amazing what a little bit of fabric and thread can do for one’s self esteem.

It’s officially the next to last day of Sew Yourself Some Love. Don’t forget to enter the giveaway by linking up your creations! Today, I’m rocking Everything Your Mama Made (EYMM)’s Off the Shoulder Top.

One of my favorite things about EYMM is the patterns are drafted to fit a much larger size range. The majority of the patterns fit sizes XS to 5X. From start to finish, the Off the Shoulder Top took about 2 hours to complete. It might have taken less time; however, I cut from 3 different pieces of burnout jersey. About the burnout jersey, it’s from a Girl Charlee bargain lot. It’s super lightweight and comfortable. I should have worn a white camisole underneath because the burnout jersey is see-through. However, that’s completely my fault and not the pattern/designer.

The entire look only cost about $10 for the shirt and the pants I already owed. It’s not hard to making sewing for yourself affordable. You don’t have to spend $15-$20 per yard of fabric. Shop around is the best advice I can offer especially when you’re on a budget. Don’t get discouraged if you come across fitting issues. There are a few seamstresses who are willing to help you learn to get the proper fit. Let Pinterest be your guide also. There is a plethora of resources on Pinterest regarding fitting help. Remember we all started somewhere.

The Kiss Clutch by ChrisW Designs is the perfect accent for my girls night out adventures. I’ve been wanting to use the Art Gallery Fabric that’s been in my stash since last year. The Kiss Clutch was the perfect pattern to use the fabric on this time. The soft pink interior makes locating my quickies super easy. The clutch is large enough to hold an iPhone 6 Plus, drivers license, and a couple of credit/discount cards. If you’re looking for a dump and grab, small purse the Kiss Clutch would work well for you.

I’d love to see what you make. Post a picture in our Facebook group and don’t forget to upload a photo to our linky party HERE.

Until next time….
