Color Up Tunic with Color Me Fabric by Hayley Crouse for Michael Miller

There is no telling how excited I was when I got my hands on some of the New Michael Miller Color Me Fabric for this blog tour.  I think I stared at it for an hour - seriously there is so much detail in every piece that you just keep finding new things.. LOVE IT!

As soon as I saw the sneak peaks of the fabric designs, I knew that I wanted to design a pattern specifically for this fabric.  I knew the pattern would need clean simple lines to really show off the panels, and that it would need some fun details to make it visually appealing and different from what else is out there.  I came up with the Color Up Tunic - and I am giving it away in sizes 1-7 FREE!!!!

This pattern is fun, it works in all knit, all woven, or a mix of knit and woven - WHOOOHOOOO!  That leaves ample room to play with your Color Me Fabric.  There are also cute pockets and an optional cuff to finish the sleeve.

Mack colored the pockets herself (I may have beefed them up a bit with more color after, but all her coloring shines through), and she is SOOOOOOOO proud of them!!!!

You of course have to start by coloring some fabric - can I just say, this part takes way longer than sewing up a tunic, but is so fun to do with your kids to see their imaginations explode.

Once you have colored fabric you can sew away!

I used one colored panel, and one B&W panel for the full dress.  And then I used the tops of the panels (the clouds) for the skirt and the complimentary fabric that Mack colored for the pockets.  So cute.  In retrospect, I am kinda wishing I had dyed the skirt a fun pop color... but that just gives me ideas for next time.
